Dr. Maira Birrueta, PhD
Postdoctoral Therapist | Psychologist Candidate
Dr. Maira Birrueta (she/her/ella) is a Psychologist Candidate at Reaching HOPE. She is a bilingual bicultural Mexican American Latina. Maira received her Doctorate in Counseling Psychology from the University of Oregon where she also earned her Master of Science in Counseling, Family, and Human Services. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Languages and Cultures with an emphasis in Spanish from Washington State University. Further, Maira completed her Pre-Doctoral Psychology Internship through the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Maira has experience providing services in private, university, trauma-focused, and primary care settings to children, adolescents, and adults with diverse presenting concerns. She also has experience with formal psychological assessment within pediatric, forensic, and primary care settings. Maira is passionate about increasing access to mental health services for all people, especially the Latino/a/x population. Her research interests include racial identity development, Latino/a/x academic achievement and outcomes, and topics in counseling Latino/a/x individuals and families.
